About

An e-book (short for electronic book,or EBook), also known as a digital book, is an e-text that forms the digital media equivalent of a conventional printed book, sometimes restricted with a digital rights management system. An E-book, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary of English, is “an electronic version of a printed book which can be read on a personal computer or hand-held device designed specifically for this purpose”. E-books are usually read on dedicated hardware devices known as e-Readers or e-book devices. Personal computers and some cell phones can also be used to read e-books.

eBooks are much older than commonly believed. With various eBook readers being launched it seems eBooks are ready to take over the turf held by regular books. How long it would take for them to completely displace them? We don’t know. Ofcourse computers havn’t resulted in paperless offices, so predominance of eBooks, eMagazines and Audio Books doesn’t automatically translate into the death of printing. The major shift would be in methods of distribution.

I hope the eBook market is not dominated by a few players and the authors receive a larger share of the sales. That’s all in the future.

I’ll try and search legally downloadable eBooks, eMagazines and other helpful material on the web, and present it on this blog. Inbetween there would be posts requesting you to buy some – which are not free.

If you’d like to write on the blog, or have authored an eBook which could be written about here, please send me a mail – contact at ebooktrawl dot com
